One of the more challenging aspects of Kingdom life is the concept of contentment. Human nature diametrically opposes the mandate to be content in whatever situation we find ourselves. Somewhere in the gumbo of emotions we're simultaneously processing (e.g. frustration, impatience, dissatisfaction, confusion, helplessness, despair, etc.), contentment just gets overshadowed, much like that quiet middle child who is the least demanding of his siblings for attention. What's interesting, though, is that GOD never requires of us anything we've not already been given the capability to perform (2 Peter 1:3). So, no matter how difficult it may seem for us to be content, our manifestation of this behavior (or Kingdom cultural attribute) will always be a matter of our will to exhibit it.
Despite what the enemy would have us to believe, our being content is really a lot easier than we suppose. In its simplest form, contentment is trusting GOD. Discontentment usually arises when we find ourselves in situations that are not in sync (or disagree) with what GOD has shown or promised us. Therefore, the way to Contentmentville involves looking beyond our present circumstances to see the picture GOD gave us of our destinations. Because GOD is not a man that He should lie, neither the Son of Man that He should repent; what He said He will perform and what He spoke shall come to pass (Numbers 23:19). If what we see now doesn't match GOD's picture, then it only means we're on our way to it. Just trust GOD to do what He does best - ensuring that His purpose prevails (Proverbs 19:21). It's then that we see: "Welcome to Contentmentville."
