During the Christmas holiday, I had the wonderful privilege of traveling with my parents to New Orleans to spend time with my extended family. While there, I was blessed to visit the church that I call home because it's where I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior during my teenage years. The Life Center Cathedral in New Orleans is a very special place to me, and I was so glad to see everyone there. Bishop J. Douglas Wiley delivered a message on Christmas morning entitled "A Difficult Path To a Merry Christmas" from 2 Corinthians 8:9, a major point of which was:
"Jesus proved that GOD owns everything by multiplying food, ceasing storms and raising the dead."As I meditated on that statement, it occurred to me that the power to command proves ownership. Jesus was able to prove to believers and unbelievers alike that His Father, in fact, owned everything that existed by demonstrating the power of GOD. Whether it was healing the sick, pulling money from a fish's mouth or casting out demons, Jesus took advantage of every opportunity given to irrefutably communicate that His Father was indeed the GOD of the Universe. This is good news, friends, because we live in a society that constantly reminds us that we are not in control of "the system" and that we are powerless when it comes to changing things. But that is a lie straight from the mouth of Satan!
Greater is He in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). The very same power that raised Christ from the dead is alive in us (Romans 8:11). So we are just as capable of demonstrating GOD's ownership of everything as was Jesus Christ when He walked the earth. As a matter of fact, Bible says we are capable of greater works because Jesus' ministry only lasted approximately three and a half years (John 14:12). Some of us have been saved for decades and have yet to scratch the surface on what Christ did by GOD's power. GOD has raised us up for the express purpose of demonstrating His power that His name might be declared throughout all the earth (Exodus 9:16, Romans 9:17). Therefore, let's not just be content with being saved and receiving the gift of eternal life. Let's become agents of change who confidently wield the power of GOD in our daily lives, thereby proving to all mankind that our GOD is who He says He is and will do what He says He will do.
AMEN!!! I don't know when we're going to realize our power and authority as believers! I thank God daily for the authority of the believer over the ability of the enemy. Our authority trumps the enemies' ability! We have victory over every circumstance in our lives, but we have to walk in that victory! Keep letting God use you son.
